Doris is taking a tea break at the horticultural show. Her hat is a bit scratchy and Dennis Macnamara from number 8 is FAR too proud of his red onions for her liking. She can’t understand why he’s so inappropriate about her prize courgettes either - she’s told him til she’s blue in the face that she’s never been one for marrows. She has to admit that Constance from the post office has managed a pretty good crop of plums this year, but word on the street is that Bill the new postman is helping her turn them into a duff, so the less said about THAT low hanging fruit the better….
